Raymond Douglas Hayes is an abstract automatist. Also, he shares a great love for music--whether he's singing in a blues band or collecting vintage rhythm and blues recordings. It is the rhythmic tones of the music and unlocking of the subconscious that intertwine to create the free forms of line and color in his art. In bringing visual art to the forefront he is motivated to express, on canvas, the rhythms he senses, feels, hears and sees behind closed eyes--from soul to fingertips. |
